Dog Friendly Hocking Hills

Hocking Hills was named Top Dog-Friendly U.S. Vacation Region by the pet-loving website DogFriendly.com. That’s a significant boost for our area as all of us have made efforts to include man’s best friend in as much as possible in Hocking County.

Many of our State Parks and forests allow dogs as long as they are under control, but not all of them. If you’re planning a vacation in the area, it will pay to check if the places you’re visiting allow them.

There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails in and around Hocking Hills and dogs are allowed on many of them while on a leash. Hocking Hills State Park alone has over 10 miles of hiking trails for you and your dog that feature challenging sections, easy sections and some amazing views of the countryside.

Old Man’s Cave, one of Hocking Hills prime destinations also allows dogs on a leash and provides an excellent day out. Hike the trails that circle the cave, then go into the cave itself and marvel at the rock formations and waterfalls. Cedar Falls is also another local highlight that allows dogs and includes a half mile trail that loops around the formation.

Those are just three of the many parks and forests that allow dogs to accompany you on your days out. They are also the reason we got voted Top Dog-Friendly U.S. Vacation Region.

As if that wasn’t enough, there are also regular events held in Hocking Country for dogs. Previous events have included doggie parades, dog fashion shows, games, activities, swim days and more!
