Hocking Hills Marina at Lake Logan

Lake Logan is a prime fishing spot in Hocking County, Ohio and is well worth a visit if a rod and line makes for your perfect day out. Located in the idyllic Hocking Hills area of Ohio, the Hocking Hills Marina is perfectly paced for a day’s fishing or longer vacation. Here is a brief overview of the marina and the area.

Lake Logan was once called Hocking Lake, but was renamed to honor the Native American heritage of the area. It sits inside Lake Logan State Park, one of a few State Parks and State Forests in the area. As well as a 311 acre lake, the park also has 430 acres of wilderness to explore.

Hocking Hills Marina offers boat rentals for fishing and spending time on the water. From here you can launch your own craft as long as it has no more than a 10hp motor, or use a rental. The marina provides pontoon boats, paddle boats, row boats, canoes, kayaks and electric motor boats for recreation and fishing.

If you’re here to fish, you’ll need a current fishing license, available at a few outlets around Lake Logan. It costs $19 for the year, but is free if you’re over 66. As mentioned, you can use your own boat as long as you don’t go faster than 10mph and the motor isn’t over 10hp.

If you do bring rod and line, you can get bait from the Hocking Hills Marina at Lake Logan as well as other outlets. The marina also stocks spares, accessories, snacks and drinks too to ensure you have everything you need. Once you get on the water, there are northern pike, bass, bluegill, crappie, Muskie, catfish and Saugeye to pit your wits against.

As well as fishing, Lake Logan has a large swimming beach, launch ramps, picnic areas, winter sledding trails and two hiking trails. The trails aren’t long, or particularly challenging, but they do provide a diversion from the water. Both offer exceptional views of the countryside in and around the Hocking Hills Marina and Lake Logan.

In season, there is hunting around the lake too, where you can pitch yourself against foxes, squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, deer, waterfowl, turkey and ruffed grouse. As long as you have a valid Ohio license, you can make the most of what the area has to offer.
