Holiday Events in Hocking Hills

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it is time to start thinking about Christmas gifts, sweet treats, and seasonal activities. The Hocking Hills region of southeast Ohio has plenty of holiday spirit on tap for you this year. Whether you are looking for family-friendly fun or want to plan a wine tasting evening with your special someone, Hocking Hills has you covered. Here are some local events guaranteed to get you in the holiday mood.

Holidays in the Country at Camp Oty’Okwa

Make charity a part of your holiday tradition by going to Camp Oty’Okwa’s popular Holidays in the Country banquet on Saturday, December 14. This annual banquet features a scrumptious meal and a silent auction with items from local businesses and artists. The cost is $30 per person, with proceeds going to the Big Brothers Big Sisters scholarship fund that helps children attend camp.

Events at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio

Lancaster’s Decorative Arts Center is dedicated to providing creative education and outlets for artists of all ages and abilities, and they have several classes coming up just in time for the holidays. Children in grades K-6 can work on homemade Christmas gifts at a “Gift Making” class on December 14, and children and adults together can participate in “Holiday Fun at the Georgian and the Decorative Arts Center” on December 15. The event features Christmas tree exhibits, ornament-making, and more.

Workshops at the Inn at Cedar Falls

The Inn at Cedar Falls has a couple of well-timed workshops coming up in the next few weeks. On December 5, create your own Christmas dinner centerpiece at “Holiday Table Arrangements with Kellie.” The cost is $55 and includes lunch and supplies. Come back a few days later for a “Holiday Cookies” workshop with Joan Heitman. There is a maximum of 15 people for this course ($55), which includes lunch and cookies, so contact the Inn to make your reservations today.

Wine Tasting and Sale at Shaw’s Inn

Shaw’s Inn holds wine and beer tastings throughout the year, and this year’s holiday event is on November 29 from 5 to 7. For $15, you can enjoy 12 wines and a variety of appetizers, and perhaps find the perfect wine to serve with your Christmas turkey.

Jingle Bell Luminary Parade Weekend

Finally, for those of you who like to start the Christmas festivities early, this weekend is Jingle Bell Weekend in nearby Waverly in Pike County. The weekend features a 5K run, craft show, chili cook-off, wine tasting, and of course the Luminary Parade and a visit from Santa.

After an afternoon of wine tasting or making cookies, what could be better than an evening snuggled up in a cozy cabin overlooking some of the best views in Hocking Hills.
