It’s getting hot out there — time to put on your swimsuit, grab your beach towel, and get wet! With its many parks and lakes, southeast Ohio has plenty of places to take the family for a day on the water. Here are the best places to swim in and around Hocking Hills, Ohio.
Hocking Hills State Park
Hocking Hills State Park has an outdoor swimming pool open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Though park entrance is free, there is a small fee to use the pool, which is located near the Hocking Hills Dining Lodge.
Lake Hope State Park
If you prefer a beach to a pool, head just a bit south of Hocking Hills State Park to Lake Hope State Park. Lake Hope has a 600-foot swimming beach, complete with a beach house with sun deck and concession stand. It is open during daylight hours.
Burr Oak State Park
To the east is Burr Oak State Park, which also features a public swimming beach, with a bathhouse, showers, and changing rooms. There are also beach volleyball courts for some on-land entertainment. Again, the beach is open during daylight hours.
Lake Logan State Park
Northeast of Hocking Hills State Park, Lake Logan is one of Ohio’s best fishing lakes. On the north side is a public swimming beach. This locale is more appropriate for self-sufficient beach-goers as there are no facilities other than restrooms. Daylight hours.
Pine Lake
Pine Lake is located inside Tar Hollow State Park, which is just south and west of Hocking Hills State Park. The beach offers no facilities, but is within walking distance of the campgrounds. Daylight hours.
Lake Alma State Park
About 30 minutes south of Hocking Hills State Park, Lake Alma has two public beaches with changing rooms, a concession stand, and restrooms. Daylight hours.
Old Man’s Cave Chalets Pool
Finally, if you want to enjoy a day in the water without having to stir too far from home, our Hocking Hills cabins have a shared pool where you can relax for a morning, an afternoon, or even an entire day. The pool is open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
