While it is relatively simple to jump on your bike and explore, we’d like to offer a few of our favorite mountain bike trails in Hocking Hills.

Ohio Mountain Bike Trails

Mountain biking in Ohio may not be as extreme as say, Colorado or Montana, but there are several areas for those seeking a gravity-fueled adrenaline rush. There’s a reason Hocking Hills has become one of the best Ohio vacation spots for outdoor adventures, and these mountain bike trails have been a considerable part of it. Here are some of our favorite locations for shredding switchbacks.

  • Hocking Hills State Park has two mountain bike trails combining into four miles of intermediate mountain biking. The orange loop is the more difficult of the two and features plenty of downhill action and berms. The purple loop is a little easier and has more of a gradual incline, so you won’t have to worry about grunting uphill if you have young children with you.
  • Tar Hollow State Park has nearly 30 miles of trails consisting of two main pathways; Logan Backpack Trail and Ross Hollow. The dense forest exemplifies this hillside park and steep ravines to contribute to mountain biking in Ohio dramatically. The Logan Backpack Trail is two loops combined, and Ross Hollow is at the top of the hill with the trailhead next to the park’s general store.
  • Lake Hope State Park has an incredible matrix of mountain bike trails that range from easy to advanced. With over 20 miles of the trail made up by nine loops, you’ll have plenty to explore as you cruise atop the ridges. The Hope Furnace trail allows you to ride parallel to Lake Hope and isn’t too steep. On the other end of the spectrum, we have the Sidewinder Loop that is chock-full of steep climbs, twisting sidetracks, and challenging rock beds.
